Press release: Online Unmanned Cargo Aircraft Conference, 9th edition: UCA business models in a post-Covid world

Unmanned Cargo Aircraft Conference

On December 8, 2020, the 9th edition of the Unmanned Cargo Aircraft Conference will take place, this year online because of the pandemic. The conference brings together manufacturers, operators, knowledge institutes, consultants, shippers and governmental organizations active in the field of unmanned cargo aircraft to discuss the latest developments and challenges in the field.

The conference will start with a duo presentation by Hans Heerkens, Chairman of Platform Unmanned Cargo Aircraft and Dennis Prak, Assistant Professor, University of Twente. After that, Ed de Reyes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sabrewing Aircraft will explain the difference between the terms used to refer to “drones” and will show why these terms are important, since drones are not Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and UAM isn’t an Unmanned Air Vehicle.

Further in the program Parimal Kopardekar, Director at NASA Aeronautics Research Institute will talk about how to safely and efficiently integrate unmanned cargo operations of all sizes into the national airspace system, while Gokul Srinivasan, Director Of Technology at Robots Expert Finland Oy will address UCA business models and showcase the difference between reality and fantasy of inflated values.

Another hot topic that will be discussed during the conference is related to how can drones be used in a pandemic. Olivier Defawe, Director at VillageReach will review and question the use of light cargo drones in response to the pandemic, while Celine Hourcade, Founder & Managing Director at Change Horizon and Transition Director, Sustainability at The International Air Cargo Association TIACA will elaborate on how cargo drones can fit in the future landscape and in the post-covid world.

Furthermore, other interesting subjects such as rocket powered UAVs for space transportation, Autonomous VTOL for Middle-Mile Logistics or Dutch ambitions on drones will be approached during the presentations of reputed speakers such as Jeroen Wink, CEO of Dawn Aerospace, David Merrill, CEO of Elroy Air and Jan Willem van Dijk, Innovation Manager, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, The Netherlands.
