Mobile OS Benchmark for smartphones
The Smartphone has been a product for the innovative enduser, who is eager for new technology, and therefore able to distinguish the pro's and con's of every Operating System. Now the market for Smartphones is getting mature, in the sense that larger groups want to use the features and possibilities of the Smartphone, without even bothering the pro's and con's of the OS.

On the other hand the integration of a Smartphone in operational procesess of companies requires specific functionality and features of the Operating Systems.

With the above mentioned issues Jakajima has decided to conduct a marketresearch and benchmark of the major Mobile Operating Systems in the world. The project is being done in cooperation with the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.

The following Operating Systems will be benchmarked (in alphabetical order);
  • Java (Blackberry)
  • PalmOS
  • Symbian S60
  • Symbian UIQ
  • Microcoft Windows Mobile

The benchmark is divided in two parts;
  • Ranking of functionalities and features, based upon a research amongst a large group of specialists, ICT managers and consumers
  • Real life testing of the highest ranked functionalities and features on the several Operating Systems and different hardware platforms
